- Scan constantly to ensure you know where all opportunities are
- To see the ball you must be in line of pass
- When you move forwards keep your defender/s and the ball in view by keeping your body open
- Try to keep seeing the opposition goal so you can face forward if you receive the ball
- If you want to receive a pass behind your defender, get to within 2-3 metres of your defender and make your run when your defender looks at the ball
Why is this important
- It is important to position yourself to see your immediate opponent, other defenders and your teammates as often as possible. This positioning is within your control and nobody can stop you from doing it
- It is much easier to do this in a wide position or when you are facing the opponents goal and your defender is goal side of you
